Free School Meal Update - National Vouchers

The Government has now set up a national voucher scheme that allows the school to arrange for an eCode to be sent to each family that have children who are entitled to Free School Meals.

Families must have applied for Free School Meals to the Local Authority and been granted them.

This eCode should arrive by email to the address we hold. The eCode can be exchanged for an eGift Card that is worth £15 for each child and can be spent in certain supermarkets including, Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys. Details of what to do will be sent as part of the email you receive.

We have arranged for two weeks’ worth of vouchers to be sent to cover the Easter holiday period. We hope that the first ecode will be sent on Thursday 9th April. However, the national provider may struggle to meet the demand and so please be patient if it doesn’t arrive on Thursday.

For the few families we do not have an email for we will post the vouchers until we can contact you to get an email address.

This means that school will no longer be providing daily packed lunches for FSM children that could be collected from the school.

The Local Authority has asked schools to share with parents/carers the message to not respond to any emails about FSM that ask for your bank account details as they are scams. The national provider does not require your bank details as you are being given a gift card to use in supermarkets.

We will let you know when the next FSM voucher will be sent after the Easter Holidays.
