Welcome to Year 2!
During this difficult time, as a school we are going to do all we can to ensure children can continue to develop their knowledge, understanding and curiosity by having communication with you all via Class Dojo and the school webiste on a daily basis.
Before the lockdown began, I sent out Home Learning books with 24 activities that children can engage with at home. Children can also access MyMaths online and this will give them opportunities to apply and embed their knowledge. Numbots is another online maths activity, where children can have fun whilst learning.
Each child has a personal username and password, which are stuck at the back of their Home Learning books.
I will also add different activities via Class Dojo.
If you are unable to access any of the above I will attach photos, documents via Class Dojo so your child can still complete them.
Most importantly we want you to stay safe and keep positive. Please message me via Class Dojo and keep me updated about what you have all been doing at home. I would love to see photos so please send them and I will add them to our class page. Thank you for your continued support. I think you're all doing an amazing job at home schooling your children.
In Year 2 we all have a passion for learning. We are curious learners and are eager to gain more knowledge. Whilst teaching the curriculum, children will enagage with a variety of skills that they already have, whilst developing new skills that they need to learn in Year 2.

Children are required to have their PE kit in school everyday. Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.
Our school PE kit consists of a white t-shirt, black shorts and plimsoles.
During the colder seasons children can wear jogging bottoms and jumpers.
Please ensure that all PE kits are labelled with your child's name.
Reading books and Reading Records must also be in school on a daily basis. As we are striving towards children having a passion for reading, we encourage you all to hear your child read on daily basis and to please sign their Reading Record. We want to ensure that children are reading a variety of different genres to expand their knowledge and understanding about the world. Children will bring home a book from our class library, which they will independently choose book that relates to their PM Benchmark level.
Children are expected to complete one piece of home learning every week from the home learning grid.
The home learning grid is stuck in their home learning books (they are also on our class page, below). Children have a choice of what piece of home learning they want to complete. Home learning is given out on a Friday and should be handed in on Wednesday. Helping and supporting your child with their home learning will encourage them to engage with their learning outside of the classroom, which will increase their curiosity.
Spellings are also a part of home learning and they will be stuck at the back of their home learning books (they are also on our class page, below). Every Thursday the children will complete a spelling test and a new set of spellings will be taught and given out every Friday.
