Welcome to Year 3!
Mrs Solanki, Miss Tew and Mrs Humphries would like to welcome you all to Year 3. We are all so very excited to be altogether again and we can assure you that we are all going to be as safe as we can, have fun and enjoy the time we have at school.
If you have any questions or concerns please do contact me via Class Dojo.
Reading at home
As reading is a fundamental skill to have, we would love it if you could listen to your child read at home! It would be absolutely amazing if your child can read up to five times a week. As a parent / guardian can you please sign to say that you have heard your child read. As a class we are going to have a weekly competition to see how has read the most of at home and celebrate those who have been reading at home.
PE will take place every Friday and children must come into school wearing their PE kit, so they do not have to get changed in school. The PE kit consists of, a white t-shirt, a jumper (during Autumn/Winter), black shorts or jogging bottoms and trainers/plimsolls.
A spelling test will take place every Thursday and children will bring a list of spellings that they must practice every Friday. They also have a 'spelling book' in which they can practice their spellings so the rule in which has been taught can be reinforced. It is also very important that children know what the words mean and this is part of their home learning. As a class we go through the definitions of the words and then encourage them to use the spelling words in sentences so that are aware of how they can be used.
Forest School takes place Tuesday-Friday PM with Mrs Humphries. Children are expected to come into school wearing their outdoor clothes. There is a list on our classroom window indicating what group and day your child will partake in Forest School.
