Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Olympic Gymnast Sam Oldham Inspires Pupils at Belgrave St Peter’s C of E Primary School

Pupils at Belgrave St Peter’s C of E Primary School in Leicester were inspired by a special visit from Olympic gymnast Sam Oldham, who shared his remarkable journey from a young aspiring athlete to becoming a Team GB Olympic Bronze Medallist at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

During the visit, Sam spoke about his dedication, resilience, and the challenges he faced on his path to success as one of Britain’s top gymnasts. His motivational talk encouraged pupils to dream big, work hard, and never give up on their goals.

The excitement reached new heights when Sam wowed the audience with a series of backflips, showcased his Olympic Torch, and proudly displayed his Olympic medal. Pupils and staff were thrilled to experience such an inspiring moment in person.

This unforgettable event was organised by Connex Education Partnership, who continue to support schools across the UK by providing engaging and educational experiences that enrich children’s learning.

“Meeting Sam Oldham was a truly inspiring experience for our pupils,” said Alex McLugash, Acting Headteacher at Belgrave St Peter’s C of E Primary School. “His story reminded us all that with determination, courage, and perseverance, we can overcome challenges and achieve incredible things. The children were completely captivated — it’s a day they’ll never forget.”

The visit left a lasting impression on pupils and staff alike, motivating everyone at Belgrave St Peter’s to aim high — both in and outside the classroom.
