And now we have these three: faith and hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.’ 1 Corinthians 13:13

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

English

Our English Curriculum

At Belgrave St Peter’s, we value the importance of English as the way to access all other areas of the curriculum. We recognise that literacy skills not only empower children to communicate creatively and imaginatively, but also equip them with the fundamental skills and attitudes which they will use, enjoy and benefit from as they grow into adult life.

Here, we follow an English curriculum which is closely linked to high-quality texts, whether these be fiction chapter books, picture books or non-fiction books. We know that for our children to make a strong start, they need to be able to read well and enjoy reading.

We have reviewed our core texts to ensure that they represent all members of our school community, reflecting our children so that they can see themselves but also acting as a window to the rest of the world. Our curriculum is constantly being developed and improved.
