And now we have these three: faith and hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.’ 1 Corinthians 13:13

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

History

At Belgrave St Peters  we provide a high-quality History curriculum, written by History specialists specifically for the pupils of schools in the RISE Academy Trust. There are five strands to the curriculum: Chronological understanding, Knowledge and understanding of past events, people and changes in the past, Historical interpretation, Historical enquiry and Organisation and communication.

The curriculum is written to inspire, in our children, a curiosity and fascination with the past. It begins in EYFS and KS1, where the children learn about the history of their family, the local area and key historical people and dates, through KS2, where the children are taught to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.

By teaching History in this way, our children will be able to ask and answer questions, make connections between History and learning in other areas of the curriculum. They will broaden and deepen their knowledge and understanding of the world, challenge preconceived ideas and develop life skills which will prepare them for high school and beyond.
